There are two types of AI: generative and discriminative. Generative AI generates new content like text, images, video, and music. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini are commonly-used AI tools that generate text. Discriminative AI can classify, predict or recognize patterns in existing data but does not create new content. In both cases, the tools are not actually intelligent. They are able to perform specific tasks by reading data and algorithms, but they do not possess human cognition or consciousness.
