There are a large number of AI-powered tools available to search for academic resources. Many of them have some “free” features, with full access behind a paywall or only accessible via a “premium,” paid tier. You will have additional access to more full-text resources when you use library databases; remember, it’s always a good idea to try searching in multiple places to get what you need.

Here are some AI-powered tools that can help you search for academic resources:

  • ResearchRabbit is a completely free tool. After you upload one or more scholarly articles to ResearchRabbit, it will use AI to suggest similar, potentially relevant articles.
  • Scite has both free and paid options; Belmont faculty and staff can get free premium access to Scite on the Faculty Information LibGuide, and students can register for a free account. Scite uses AI to help you find scholarly articles and evaluate how they have been cited and used by other researchers.
  • All Belmont students, faculty, and staff have access to Microsoft Copilot. While Copilot is not the best tool for scholarly, peer-reviewed articles, it can help you identify relevant websites and news resources.
